At eight o'clock sharp that evening, I sat in the studio of the nation’s most-watched evening news program for an exclusive live interview.
The anchor, a seasoned journalist named Sarah Jenkins, looked at me with professional scrutiny. “Emily, millions of people have seen the footage released online today. Victor Vance’s defense team claims you are a deeply troubled woman trying to ruin a respected businessman out of spite. How do you respond?”
I looked directly into the main camera lens, knowing Victor was watching from his penthouse.
“The video leaked today was real,” I said, my voice dropping into a calm, resonant frequency that surprised even myself. “That was me. I was terrified, broken, and pushed to the absolute brink of human endurance.”
Sarah leaned in. “Are you saying you were provoked?”
“I’m saying the public was shown a carefully edited lie,” I replied smoothly.
I gestured to the studio control room. Behind us, the giant broadcast screens flickered to life, displaying the raw, unedited version of the same kitchen video—the version Detective Singh had recovered from the hidden clock drive.
On national television, fifty million viewers watched the full clip: Victor standing over me, smirking, calling me worthless, while Helena calmly watched from the table. Viewers heard Victor’s quiet, chilling voice: 'Cry harder, Emily. No one will ever believe you.'
The studio went dead silent.
“That is the unedited truth,” I said softly into the microphone. “Victor Vance didn't record those videos to protect himself. He recorded them to keep me trapped. And he isn't the only woman he’s done this to.”
