Breaking the Loop
Elena placed the letter down on the glass table. She looked out the window, where darkness enveloped the garden, though the golden light spilling from the mansion felt incredibly warm.
"Marcus chose hatred."
Elena said slowly.
"Vivian did too. They chose to inherit the darkness of their parents, turning themselves into monsters. They thought hurting others was the way to protect themselves."
She turned back to look straight into Alejandro’s eyes.
"But Julian is begging for a way out of that darkness. He is begging to be human."
Alejandro understood what she meant. Cruelty was so much easier than forgiveness. But cruelty would only continue to sow the seeds of hatred, creating a second Marcus in the future.
"I will give him a job."
Alejandro decided, his voice steady.
"Under strict supervision. He will have to start from the very bottom of society. But it will be an honest job."
