A Father's Promise
Alejandro carried his daughter back to the side of Elena’s bed. He dropped to one knee, pressing his cheek against his wife's hand.
"She has your eyes."
Alejandro whispered, placing a long, lingering kiss on Elena's forehead.
Elena smiled weakly, reaching out to touch her daughter’s soft, rosy cheek.
"And your exact frown."
Alejandro laughed through his tears. He looked at the tiny life sleeping soundly in his arms. He had once sworn to kill anyone who dared touch Elena. He had once thought his hands only knew how to destroy, only knew how to hold a gun and protect through violence.
But now, those heavily scarred hands were cradling the most precious and fragile thing in the universe.
"Welcome to the world, Aurora."
