Dialogue in the Living Room

If it had been the Alejandro from three years ago, he would have crumpled the letter and ordered his men to ensure Julian Vale never saw the light of day once he stepped out of prison.
But the current Alejandro knew the value of life.
He brought the letter home. That evening, in the warm living room with the fire crackling in the hearth, he handed it to Elena.
She took the letter. Her eyes skimmed over the name "Julian Vale". Alejandro watched her with bated breath, ready to throw it into the fire if he saw even the slightest hint of panic in her.
But Elena's face remained perfectly calm. She read every word carefully.
"What are you going to do?"
Elena asked, looking up at her husband.
"I want to hear your opinion."

Alejandro sat down next to her, taking her hand.
"If you feel even the slightest bit uneasy, I will refuse him. I will send him abroad, forever out of our sight."
