Chapter 27 - The Boardroom Showdown

|
The main boardroom of Sterling Imperial was packed to maximum capacity.
The corrupt minority board members—those who had secretly aligned with Arthur Vance and Richard Hayes—had called an emergency vote to strip me of my executive power following the market volatility.
At the head of the table sat Donald Burke, an old associate of Arthur Vance, looking smug as he adjusted his gold spectacles.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Burke announced, tapping his pen against his glass. "In light of the recent legal chaos and the ongoing federal investigations surrounding Director Sterling's personal life, I move for an immediate vote to remove Elena Sterling as CEO."
"Seconded," another corrupt board member called out immediately.
"Let's take the vote," Burke smiled triumphantly. "All those in favor of removing—"
BANG.
The double doors of the boardroom flew open, slamming against the walls.
I walked in, wearing a sharp white power suit, my heels thundering against the floor. On my right index finger, the golden signet ring of Vanguard Apex glinted brightly under the lights. Beside me walked Julian Cross and my attorney, Natalie Brooks.
"Sit down, Donald," I commanded, my voice booming through the room like thunder.
Burke gasped, standing up awkwardly. "Elena! This is a closed board executive session! You cannot interrupt—"
"I own fifty-one percent of Sterling Imperial, Donald," I said, walking up to the head of the table and placing my palms flat on the wood. "And as of twenty minutes ago, through the liquidation of Vanguard Apex, I hold ninety percent voting control over all subsidiary assets."
Natalie Brooks slammed a stack of certified legal deeds onto the center of the table.
"Every single one of you who voted to support Aegis Capital’s short-raid has been identified," Natalie declared. "Your shares are officially frozen under corporate treason clauses."

Donald Burke’s face went dead white. "This... this is impossible!"
"You're fired, Donald," I said, looking him dead in the eye. "All of you. Security, escort these disgraced former members out of my building."
