Chapter 22 - The Strike on Vanguard Logistics

Four federal marshals marched into the lobby, slamming handcuffs onto Richard Hayes’s wrists. As they dragged him away screaming threats, the lobby fell into a breathless hush.
"Director Sterling," Sarah whispered, stepping beside me. "The market opened ten minutes ago. Sterling Holdings stock has surged sixty percent following the collapse of Aegis."
"That is only phase one, Sarah," I said, turning toward the elevator bank. "Assemble the legal team in the main boardroom. We are striking Vanguard Logistics next."
"Vanguard Logistics?" Sarah asked in surprise. "The shipping conglomerate?"
"It’s the primary front company Vanguard Apex uses to move illegal funds in and out of the country," I explained, stepping into the private executive elevator. "When Adrian was hiding our marital assets, he transferred two million dollars into Vanguard Logistics freight contracts."
Ten minutes later, I sat at the head of the mahogany conference table. My attorney, Natalie Brooks, unrolled a massive corporate organization chart onto the table.
"If we file a civil racketeering lawsuit against Vanguard Logistics today," Natalie pointed out, "we can freeze their primary shipping terminals in New Jersey and Long Island."
"Do it," I ordered without hesitation. "File the injunction immediately under the RICO statute. Claim fraudulent transfer of marital assets from my divorce settlement."

"That will freeze over thirty million dollars of their active supply chain," Natalie said, a sharp smile spreading across her face. "Their international investors will panic within twenty-four hours."
"Good," I leaned back, resting my chin on my hands. "I want Vanguard Apex bleeding from every vein. They wanted a fight—now they’re going to get an execution."
