Claudia walked slowly to the head of the long obsidian table.
She gently touched the faded scar on her wrist. She did not touch it as someone trying to hide a shameful secret. She touched it as a warrior acknowledging the battles she had survived.
She pulled out the heavy leather chair and sat down at the absolute center of power.
