Chapter 10 - DARIO’S REVENGE|

Beck stumbled out of the Vanguard building into the rain, his mind spinning into complete dark chaos.
His phone began screaming in his coat pocket. It was his Chief Financial Officer.
"Beck! Where are you?!" the CFO yelled over the line. "The police just served a warrant at our secondary holding office! Someone sent the Crown Attorney five years of internal emails and offshore kickback records!"
"What?!" Beck roared, ducking into the back of his town car. "Who sent those records?"
"Dario Shimansky!" his CFO shouted back. "She turned over her encrypted flash drive an hour ago in exchange for full immunity from corporate fraud charges!"
Beck dropped the phone onto the leather seat.
Dario.
The woman he had defended at the gala. The woman for whom he had struck his seven-month-pregnant wife in front of two hundred people. She had sold him out to save her own skin the moment the boat started taking water.
"Drive to her apartment!" Beck screamed at his driver. "Now!"
Twenty minutes later, Beck burst through the front entrance of Dario’s luxury residential building, ignoring the concierge’s warnings. He rode the elevator to the 14th floor and began pounding furiously on her door.
"Dario! Open this door!" Beck yelled, kicking the wood. "Open the door, you lying snake!"
The door swung open slowly.
Dario stood inside, wearing dark sunglasses and holding a glass of white wine. Two uniformed police officers were standing right behind her in her living room.
"Mr. Hail," Officer Davis said, stepping out into the hallway. "Miss Shimansky called thirty minutes ago to report harassment. And as it happens, we’ve been looking for you."

Officer Davis pulled steel handcuffs from his belt.
"Beckett Hail, you are under arrest for felony domestic assault and breach of a court protection order."
