Chapter 41 - Wedding Planning

We decided against a traditional venue.

I couldn't stand the idea of a heavy stone church or a windowless banquet hall. The thought of heavy oak doors closing behind me still made my chest tight.

"What about a botanical garden?" Mark suggested one evening, pouring over brochures. "Open air. Glass ceilings. Lots of light."

"I love it," I agreed.

We planned a small, intimate ceremony for the following spring. Fifty people. Just close friends and family.

When I addressed the invitations, I paused on Alex’s name.

"Do you think it's weird to invite him?" I asked Mark.

"He's Clara's dad," Mark shrugged effortlessly. "If he wants to come and support you, he should be there. If it's too hard for him, he'll politely decline. But we shouldn't exclude him."

I mailed the invitation.

A week later, Alex RSVP'd 'Yes.'
