Chapter 17 - The Reclaimed Throne

|

Through a massive civil judgment that restored all stolen corporate records, Kensington Medical Logistics was fully returned to my control.

My first day back as CEO was a chilly morning in late autumn. I stood in the grand lobby of Kensington Tower, watching workers use heavy machinery to rip Richard’s name off the polished granite wall, replacing it with my father's original silver lettering.

I walked into the executive boardroom on the top floor. The corrupt board members who had turned a blind eye to Richard’s sudden wealth sat around the long glass table, sweating, shuffling their papers nervously as I took my seat at the head of the table.

"Good morning," I said calmly, resting my hands on the polished wood.

"Margaret... Mrs. Kensington," a senior board member stammered out. "We are thrilled to have you back. We were lied to just as much as—"

"Save it, Arthur," I interrupted smoothly, sliding a stack of legal documents across the table. "Every single person sitting in this room who signed off on Richard’s offshore transfers has two choices. Option one: resign effective immediately, surrender your stock options, and leave this building within twenty minutes."

They stared at me in stunned silence.

"Option two?" Arthur asked, his voice trembling.

"Option two is that Beatrice Vance presents your private financial audits to the federal prosecutor waiting in my office downstairs."

Within fifteen minutes, the boardroom was entirely empty.

Over the next six months, I rebuilt the company from the ground up. I hired aggressive, independent forensic auditors and brought in young, principled executives who valued integrity over quick profits. We canceled the bloated, fraudulent government contracts and refocused the company on its original mission: delivering affordable, life-saving medical supplies to rural, neglected hospitals.

The company didn't just survive the scandal; under my leadership, it thrived. Stock values surged to an all-time high, and for the first time in years, I woke up every morning knowing that my father's legacy was safe in my hands.
