Chapter 10 - Cleaning the Stain

Rafael’s face turned bright red as the steel cuffs clicked around his wrists. "You can't arrest me! Do you know who my family is?!"
"Save it for the station, sir," the officer replied, escorting a stumbling Rafael toward the exit.
Mariana screamed out in horror, running after them into the street. "Rafael! Don't say anything! I'll call our corporate lawyers!"
As the police car sped away with its sirens blaring, the restaurant returned to a quiet hush.
Álvaro walked over to me, holding a fresh, clean cloth and a bottle of mineral water. He handed them to me with a respectful bow.
"Señora Morales," Álvaro said quietly. "I have adjusted your table's bill. The fraudulent charges added by the previous server have been removed, and the remaining balance for your meal has been completely waived by management. We are deeply sorry for what transpired here tonight."
"Thank you, Álvaro," I said, taking the cloth. "Please make sure a copy of that video file is sent directly to my attorney, Lucía Gomez."
"It has already been transferred to her email," he confirmed.
At that moment, the restaurant doors swung open, and Lucía hurried inside, her leather briefcase in hand, her eyes scanning the room until she spotted me.
"Elena!" Lucía called out, rushing over to hug me gently. "Are you okay?"

"I am covered in cheap red wine," I said, a faint, genuine smile touching my lips for the first time all night. "But I have never felt cleaner in my entire life."
Lucía looked at my dress, then at the empty booth, and nodded with fierce approval. "Good. Because tomorrow, we take everything he ever stole from you."
