By the winter of that year, the senior partners invited me into the boardroom and officially made me a full partner in the firm.
I bought a new apartment—a top-floor loft near the harbor with massive floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed brick, and a kitchen bathed in golden sunlight.
"Look at this place," Tessa said, popping a bottle of sparkling wine on my new kitchen island during my housewarming party. "This is a total main-character upgrade."
My mother smiled softly from the sofa, sipping her drink. "It feels like you again, Marina. That's what matters."
