Chapter 24 - The Graduation

A year later, Lucas sat in the front row of a massive university auditorium, holding Elena’s hand tightly. The stage was decorated with the university's banners, and hundreds of graduates were lined up in their caps and gowns.
When the dean called out, "Lily Grace Bennett, Summa Cum Laude," Lucas stood up and cheered louder than anyone else in the room.
He watched his daughter walk across the stage, a confident, brilliant young woman ready to take on the world. She had chosen to study environmental architecture, inspired by the Harbor Point sanctuary her father had built all those years ago to protect their family name.
After the ceremony, they gathered outside for photographs. Lily ran toward Lucas, throwing her arms around his neck, nearly knocking off his graduation cap.
"I did it!" she cheered.
"I never had a single doubt," Lucas smiled, hugging her fiercely.
Elena handed Lily a small, wrapped box. "A graduation present from both of us."

Lily tore the paper away, opening the velvet box. Inside rested a delicate, custom-made gold necklace. The pendant was a tiny, perfectly crafted treehouse with a tiny yellow door enameled on the front.
Lily gasped, tears instantly springing to her eyes. She looked at Lucas, understanding the profound weight of the symbol. It wasn't just a piece of jewelry. It was a reminder that no matter how far she went, no matter what she built in her own life, she would always have an unbreakable sanctuary waiting for her at home.
