Chapter 15 - The Ironclad Clause

|

Derek’s eyes widened in sheer horror.

“You can’t freeze our money!” he yelled, taking a step toward me.

“That’s marital property!”

“Our money?” I asked, reaching under the main head table and retrieving a thick navy blue folder that Lena had placed there earlier.

“The coastal estate is held entirely by my private trust,” I stated, flipping open the folder for the room to see.

“The investment accounts are under my maiden name. My corporate software shares remain legally separate property under state law.”

Derek stared at the folder as if it were a deadly weapon.

“And most importantly,” I continued, looking Derek straight in the eyes, “the prenuptial agreement you signed four weeks ago contains a specific misconduct clause.”

Derek’s face went entirely grey.

“Your own attorney laughed when he reviewed that clause,” I reminded him.

“He thought it was just a formality. But the language is explicit: a single verified act of physical assault or attempted financial fraud post-marriage instantly triggers an immediate and total financial separation.”

I held up the certified document.

“It waives every single claim you have to my assets, revokes your access to my trust, and activates strict legal protections around my company stock.”

“You wouldn’t enforce that over a piece of cake...” Derek whispered, his voice trembling with sudden desperation.

“You slammed my head into a wooden table in front of two hundred witnesses, Derek,” I said quietly into the mic.

“You proved exactly who you are.”
