Chapter 16 - The World Crumbles

I didn't make Dominic wait until morning.
I drove straight from the restaurant to the Gallow estate. The iron gates swung open the moment the guards recognized my car—an order clearly issued by Dominic himself.
I was escorted into the grand study, a massive room lined with mahogany bookshelves and smelling of rich leather and bourbon. Dominic was standing by the fireplace, staring into the flames. He looked exhausted, the weight of the last three days carving deep lines into his face.
"Where are they?" he asked immediately, turning to look for the children.
"Safe at home," I replied, tossing the plain leather folder onto his massive oak desk. "I came to finish the conversation we started on your wedding night."
Dominic looked at the folder. He approached the desk slowly, as if the leather were lined with explosives.
"What is this?" he asked.
"You spent six years believing I was a broken woman," I said, my voice eerily calm. "You let your mother humiliate me. You stopped touching me. You threw away our marriage because you believed a lie built by the people you trusted most in this world."
Dominic frowned, confusion masking the anger. He opened the folder.
I watched his eyes scan the medical documents. I watched as he read the chemical breakdown of the military-grade suppressant. I watched as he read the real fertility reports, detailing his absolute zero count during the years we tried for a baby, alongside the staggering bank transfers from his mother’s accounts to the clinic's chief medical officer.
The silence in the room was heavier than gravity.
Dominic’s breathing stopped. The blood completely drained from his face, leaving him pale and terrifyingly still. The man who controlled the city with absolute authority was realizing that he had been a puppet in his own home.
His own bloodline had broken him just to get rid of me.

"Silvio kept the records to protect himself," I explained softly into the silence. "Your mother poisoned you, Dominic. She stole our marriage. She almost stole your children."
Dominic slowly looked up from the papers. The look in his eyes wasn't just anger. It was the birth of a massacre.
