Chapter 11 - The Decrypted File

Three hours earlier, Damian Blackwood had stormed into the basement of his family’s estate.
Silas’s chief hacker, a nervous man named Kline, was tied to a metal chair. Marco stood beside him, holding a pair of heavy pliers.
“I’m going to ask you once,” Damian said, his voice deadly quiet, devoid of all humanity. “Where is my brother, and what is he hunting in Oak Creek?”
“I swear, I don't know!” Kline sobbed, blood dripping from his nose. “Silas keeps his operations compartmentalized! I just routed the money!”
Damian nodded to Marco.
Marco clamped the pliers onto Kline’s index finger and squeezed.
The hacker’s scream echoed off the concrete walls.
“Oak Creek! Oak Creek!” Kline shrieked, tears pouring down his face. “He’s tracking the girl! The teacher! He found her medical records!”
Damian froze. The air left his lungs.
“What medical records?” Damian demanded, grabbing Kline by the throat.
“She’s pregnant, boss!” Kline gasped, choking under Damian’s grip. “She’s carrying twins! Silas found out. He went up there to eliminate her before you found out about the heirs!”
Damian dropped the man, stumbling backward.
Twins.
Charlotte was pregnant. With his children.
The devastating reality of his actions crashed down on him. She hadn't run because she was weak. She hadn't run because she didn't love him. She had run because he had called her a mistake, and she believed she was protecting his babies from his family’s wrath.
And now his own brother was going to murder them.
“Marco,” Damian whispered, his eyes turning entirely black with a murderous rage that terrified even his hardened lieutenant. “Get the helicopter. Now.”

“There’s a blizzard upstate, Dom,” Marco warned. “We can’t fly in that.”
“I don't care if the sky is falling,” Damian roared, pulling his guns from the table. “We fly to Oak Creek. If Silas touches her, I won’t just kill him. I will erase him from existence.”
