Chapter 15 - The Ultimatum

"It’s not a request, Liam," Silas said, dropping his cigarette and crushing it under his polished shoe. "She wants the heir back. She doesn't care about the girl. I can make this painless for her. Just hand over the child, and you come home."

Liam’s finger tightened on the trigger. The safety clicked off, a sharp, deadly sound in the quiet plaza.

"If you ever speak of my daughter again, Silas, I will put a bullet through your eye," Liam promised.

Silas smiled, a cold, empty expression.

"You think you can hide? We have the resources of a small country. We will burn this town to the bedrock to drag you out."

"Then I will burn your empire first," Liam countered. "I know about the Cayman ledgers. I know where the blackmail files on the state senators are buried. I left a dead-man’s switch. If I am taken, or if anything happens to my daughter, every federal agency in the country gets the decryption keys."

Silas’s smile faded. His eyes narrowed. He knew Liam wasn't bluffing. Liam had been the architect of the family's digital security before his defection.
