Chapter 13 - The Narrow Path

The men didn't draw weapons—not yet. They wanted to take him alive. That was their fatal mistake.
Liam didn't waste time talking. He closed the distance between them with terrifying, explosive speed. The taller man barely had time to widen his eyes before Liam’s palm struck his throat, crushing his windpipe.
The man collapsed, gagging for air.
The second man drew a combat knife, lunging forward. Liam sidestepped the blade smoothly, grabbing the man’s wrist and twisting it with a sickening crack. The knife dropped to the dirt. Liam delivered a brutal, precise knee to the man’s ribs, sending him crashing into the thorny bushes.
It was over in five seconds.
Liam stood over the groaning men. He reached into the taller man’s jacket and pulled out a satellite phone.
"Who else is here?" Liam demanded, his voice cold and devoid of mercy.
"Go to hell," the man wheezed.
Liam pressed his boot down on the man's shattered wrist. The man screamed in agony.
"Just us! And Silas! He's waiting at the car!" the man gasped.

Silas. His mother’s chief enforcer.
"Stay on the ground," Liam whispered. "If you follow me to my house, I will not leave you breathing."
