Chapter 20 - The Courtroom Showdown

|
Three days later, the federal courthouse was packed for the grand indictment trial of Julian Carter and Victoria Vance. Both were captured at a private airfield while attempting to board a corporate jet to South America.
Victoria sat at the defense table in handcuffs, her hair messy, her designer outfit replaced by a dark grey prison uniform. Beside her, Julian Carter looked aged and defeated, his hands resting heavily on the wooden table.
The prosecutor stood before the judge. "Your Honor, the state calls its primary witness, Miss Elena Flores."
Elena stood up gracefully from the gallery, dressed in a sharp black business suit. She walked down the aisle with her head held high, taking her place at the witness stand.
Victoria glared at her with pure, unadulterated hatred. "You miserable maid! You ruined my life!"
"Silence in the court!" the judge shouted, slamming his gavel.
Elena looked directly into Victoria’s eyes, her voice calm, clear, and unshakeable.
"My name is Elena Flores," she testified into the microphone. "I am the daughter of Gabriel Flores, the man Julian Carter destroyed thirty years ago. And I am the woman who protected Leo Vance when his own mother tried to use him as a financial pawn."

For the next two hours, the prosecution presented the recorded audio files, the financial ledgers from Elena’s father, the UV security video, and the arson evidence.
Every single lie Victoria and Julian had built collapsed under the weight of undeniable truth.
