Chapter 11 - The Erasure Begins

As the company finally began to gain genuine traction, my undeniable presence in its history slowly morphed from an asset into an inconvenience.
Helixora managed to secure a modest but prestigious research partnership with a local hospital. Shortly after, a venture capital firm agreed to inject a lifeline of three million dollars. Flushed with cash, Adrian immediately hired a team of seasoned executives. These corporate veterans quickly whispered in his ear that institutional investors heavily preferred simple, clean leadership narratives. They wanted to see a singular, visionary founder at the helm—a solitary genius—not a messy married couple juggling overlapping personal and corporate interests.
At first, the changes Adrian implemented seemed entirely superficial, mere administrative tweaks. He became the sole founder listed on the newly revamped corporate website. He smoothly explained that investors needed a unified spokesperson to avoid confusion. Slowly, my public title was quietly downgraded from 'Co-Founder' to 'Product Adviser.' Eventually, even that title vanished from the directory entirely. Whenever I questioned him, he offered reassuring kisses and swore that public titles had absolutely no bearing on our ironclad private ownership.
After Sophie was born, the demands of motherhood forced me to reduce my hours. Meanwhile, Adrian was traveling constantly, consumed by the company’s explosive growth. We mutually agreed that I would take a step back from daily operations until our family life stabilized.
That "temporary pause" ended up lasting for more than a decade.

He started telling new hires that the company was born from a brilliant idea he had conceptualized entirely on his own. He casually referred to my grandmother's inheritance as "our combined family savings."
And I believed his lies, simply because he was my husband.
