Chapter 9: The Boardroom
One week later, I walked into the Voss family company’s boardroom wearing a black suit and carrying a leather folder.
Jackson and Genesis were already there, along with the rest of the board.
When I sat at the head of the table, Genesis laughed.
“You don’t belong here, Elena. This is a family company.”
I opened the folder and slid documents across the table.
“Actually,” I said, “I own fifty-one percent of this company. Which means I decide who stays and who goes.”
The room went silent.
Jackson’s face turned red.
“You’re lying.”
I looked him straight in the eyes.
“Check the shares. I’ve owned the majority since before we got married. I just never used it. Until now.”
Genesis stood up so fast her chair fell over.

“You manipulative bitch—”
“Security,” I said calmly. “Please escort Mrs. Voss and her son from the building. They no longer have any authority here.”
