Seeing that her tears were failing to move me, a dangerous glint flared in Judith's eyes. She pulled her smartphone from her wet pocket and activated a live broadcast on social media.
"Look at this evil woman!" Judith screamed into the phone camera, aiming the lens directly at my face. "She married my son under a fake name, ruined his company, and now she’s throwing an elderly widow into the street!"
Nathan Cole stepped forward immediately. "Judith, cease broadcasting immediately. You are making false and defamatory statements on a public platform."
Judith ignored him, stepping closer and thrusting the camera into my face. "Tell the world why you're ruining my family, Rebecca!"
I didn't dodge the camera. I stood tall, looked straight into the lens, and spoke with absolute clarity.
"I am not foreclosing on your home, Judith," I said, my voice carrying cleanly over the sound of the falling rain. "Your bank is. And according to public court records, the missed mortgage payments began eight months before I ever met your son."
Judith froze, her arm dropping slightly.
"Daniel used your home as collateral for a high-interest private loan a year ago," I continued into the broadcast. "You lost your house because of his greed, not my revenge."
The live chat on her broadcast exploded with comments as thousands of viewers instantly realized the truth.
