## Chapter 9: The Clearing of the Castle

The young boy walked slowly across the room, climbing into the large leather chair beside his father.

Gideon pulled him close, his large hand gently stroking the boy’s hair, keeping a firm boundary of safety around him. For the first time in years, the mansion didn't feel like a beautiful cage lined with secrets. It felt like a home.

From the hallway downstairs, the faint sound of shouting could be heard one last time as the security team escorted Victoria past the perimeter gates.

“You’ll regret this, Gideon!” her muffled voice echoed through the structure.

“You can’t survive in this world alone!”

The heavy front doors slammed shut with a final, echoing thud.

The silence that followed was entirely different from before. It wasn't the suffocating, fearful quiet of humiliation. It was the deep, clean silence of a space that had finally been purified of its poison.

“Is she gone, Papa?” Leo asked quietly, his small voice breaking the stillness.

Gideon looked down at his son, his hazel eyes shining with a profound, unshakeable loyalty.

“She is gone, my boy,” Gideon promised.

“And she is never coming back.”

“Promise?”
