Chapter 5: The Sanctuary of the King

## Chapter 5: The Sanctuary of the King
The powerful businessman stopped walking, his hands slowly tightening their grip around the leather briefcase he carried.
He didn't look at Victoria as she approached. He didn't give her a single glance or a word. To him, she had instantly become completely invisible—a ghost occupying a space that no longer belonged to her.
Gideon slowly dropped his briefcase onto the floor.
He walked straight past his frozen wife, his leather dress shoes clicking firmly against the stone, and knelt directly on the hard marble in front of his son.
The image of the most feared titan in the corporate world dropping to his knees was staggering. He reached out with trembling hands, his hard face softening into an expression of raw, protective sorrow as he pulled the fragile boy into a fierce embrace.
“I am here, Leo,” Gideon whispered, his voice cracking slightly.
“Papa is home.”
Leo buried his face into his father’s shoulder, his small body shaking violently as the dam broke. He cried openly now, his hands clutching the expensive fabric of Gideon’s suit jacket.
“I built an empire outside to secure your future, my boy,” Gideon murmured into his son's hair, his voice vibrating with a lethal authority.
“But while I was conquering the world, an intruder was abusing my blood inside my own castle.”

Victoria watched them from three feet away, her breath coming in shallow, terrified gasps as she realized the full magnitude of her mistake.
