Chapter 7: The Rags of Reality

## Chapter 7: The Rags of Reality
A line of bodyguards in fitted black tactical suits instantly stepped forward from the open doorway.
They moved with a terrifying, synchronized efficiency, their weapons drawn as they flanked the grand exit. They didn't look at Victoria with pity; they looked at her like a security breach that was currently being cleared from the schedule.
“Move her out,” the lead guard ordered.
Victoria scrambled backward on her hands and knees, her expensive dress tearing against the shattered remnants of the wine glass.
“Gideon! Please! Look at me!” she screamed, her mascara smudging down her pale face.
“I have nowhere to go! My family's business will collapse without your funding!”
Gideon turned his back to her, shielding Leo from the sight of her degradation.
“Your five minutes are running out, Victoria,” Gideon said, not even turning his head.
“If you are still on this property when the clock strikes the hour, you will be removed by federal authorities for corporate fraud.”
Claire, the head housekeeper, stepped out from the dining room corridor, carrying a plain gray cardboard box containing Victoria’s old clothes from before the marriage. She dropped the box onto the marble floor with a heavy thud.
“Your change of wardrobe, ma'am,” Claire said, her voice entirely devoid of emotion.

The hunters had officially become the prey. The look of pure, unadulterated panic on Victoria's face was priceless as she realized no one in this house was ever going to bow to her again.
