Chapter 14 - The Queen's Coronation

|
The summit ended in absolute chaos for the Falcone family, and a terrifying, undeniable victory for Lorenzo Moretti.
The Commission, terrified by Lorenzo’s display of power and intelligence gathering, immediately backed down, offering profound apologies and swearing their unwavering allegiance to the Moretti syndicate.
Lorenzo returned to the upstate estate as the undisputed, untouchable king of the eastern seaboard.
And Nora was formally recognized as his queen.
The wedding took place a week later in the estate's private, sprawling gardens, surrounded by blossoming white roses. It was an intimate affair, attended only by the most trusted, loyal members of the family and the inner circle of the syndicate.
Nora wore a breathtaking, custom-made white lace gown, her hair swept up elegantly, adorned with a simple diamond tiara. She walked down the aisle, carrying a beautiful bouquet, with little Lily cooing happily in the arms of one of the massive, smiling security guards in the front row.
Giovanni sat proudly in his wheelchair near the altar, wearing a tailored tuxedo, tears of profound joy shining in his dark eyes as he watched the woman who had saved his life marry his son.
As they exchanged their vows, Lorenzo looked deeply into Nora’s eyes, the cold, ruthless exterior entirely stripped away, revealing only the deeply devoted man beneath.
"I vow to protect you," Lorenzo murmured, sliding the diamond wedding band onto her finger. "I vow to honor you. And I vow that our family will never know the darkness of the world I control."
"I vow to stand by you," Nora promised, her voice clear and strong. "In the light, and in the shadows."
The priest pronounced them husband and wife, and Lorenzo kissed her deeply, sealing the promise in front of their fiercely loyal family.
The reception was a joyous, raucous celebration. The hardened mobsters danced with the estate staff, the lines of hierarchy momentarily blurred by the overwhelming happiness of the occasion.
Late that evening, after the guests had retired and Lily was fast asleep in the nursery, Lorenzo and Nora stood together on the balcony of the master suite, looking out over the moonlit estate.
Lorenzo wrapped his arms around her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder.
"We did it," Lorenzo whispered, holding her tight.
"We built an empire," Nora smiled, leaning back against his solid chest, touching the diamond ring on her finger.
