Chapter 7: The Unhinged Threshold

Fernando stared at the white paper document on the desk. His eyes darted across the text, recognizing his own bold, arrogant signature at the bottom of the page.
The reality hit him not as a realization, but as a physical impact. He had lost the empire. He had handed the keys to his kingdom to the woman he had just tried to discard, and worse, he had done it to the benefit of the brother he detested.
The volatile, arrogant corporate executive completely vanished. What remained was a man who had entirely lost his sanity.
His facial micro-expressions shifted rapidly—from paralyzed shock to an intense, terrifying twitch in his jaw. His hands curled into tight, white-knuckled fists at his sides. His chest heaved violently beneath his Brooks Brothers suit as his breathing became shallow and rapid.
