Chapter 15 - The Bail Hearing

|
The reaction was instantaneous and explosive.
At 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time, our network aired the six-minute special report exposing the abuse, the corporate cover-up, and the surveillance footage. Within two hours, the story went viral across every major social media platform and national news outlet.
By midnight, the Department of Defense issued a formal statement suspending all federal contracts with Whitaker Strategic Risk. The company's board of directors resigned en masse, and its stock value plummeted to zero.
The following morning, an emergency bail revocation hearing was convened in Denver District Court.
Grant appeared via video link from his house arrest location, flanked by his head attorney. But the smug, untouchable man who had tapped on my car window in the snow was gone. He looked pale, hollowed-out, his eyes wild with desperation as he watched the prosecutor present the mirrored server footage to the judge.
"Your Honor!" Grant's attorney shouted desperately, trying to stem the tide. "This evidence was obtained through illegal digital hacking! It violates my client's fourth amendment rights!"
"The evidence was secured via an official corporate whistleblower submission, Counselor," Judge Vance replied coldly, looking at Grant with utter disgust. "The defendant poses an immediate, severe danger to the community and has engaged in systematic witness intimidation."
She slammed her heavy wooden gavel down.
"Bail is revoked immediately. Federal marshals are dispatched to take Grant Whitaker into custody without bond."
I watched the screen as federal agents knocked down the front door of Grant's mansion on the live court feed, dragging my brother out in hand and leg irons.

As he was led into the back of a black van, Grant looked directly into the news camera, his face twisted in pure fury.
I knew then that even behind bars, he would never stop.
