Chapter 15 - Breach at the Lakehouse

|

We hit the stone dock at thirty knots, the rubber hull of our assault boat absorbing the impact as we scrambled onto the private jetty.

Silenced gunshots popped through the foggy night air as Marco and our lead guards neutralized the two perimeter guards before they could even hit their radio alarms.

We moved like shadows across the manicured lawns, bypassing the laser sensors using the master security override codes Bellini had extracted from the Swiss ledger.

We breached the rear glass doors of the grand villa, stepping into a high-ceilinged marble atrium filled with ancient statues and expensive artwork.

“Upper level master suite,” Bellini whispered, pointing his weapon toward the grand curved staircase. “That’s where he keeps his primary communications array.”

We ascended the stairs with silent, deliberate steps.

As we reached the heavy mahogany doors of the master suite, two private mercenaries stepped out from the hallway shadows, raising their submachine guns.

Marco fired twice—two quiet thwips echoed through the hall, and both guards collapsed onto the oriental carpet.

I kicked the double doors open.

Inside, sitting behind a massive glass desk overlooking the dark lake, sat Vittorio Rossi.

He was pouring a glass of amber scotch, completely unbothered by the sudden breach. He didn't look afraid. He looked like a king welcoming subjects into his throne room.

“You’re four minutes late, Adrian,” Vittorio said smoothly, setting the crystal glass down on the desk. “I expected better timing from my lead operative.”
