Chapter 14 - The Shocking Twist

|

Two hours before the Metropolitan Club dinner, I sat in the private rear seat of a black Maybach parked outside St. Jude's Medical Center.

Julian Thorne slid into the seat beside me, handing me a sealed yellow envelope stamped with the seal of the Supreme Court Digital Forensics Division.

"We got the court-ordered subpoena for Ryan Miller's medical records and paternity registry," Julian informed me, his voice grave.

I opened the envelope, pulling out the official DNA sequencing report conducted during Sierra's divorce proceedings eighteen months ago in California.

My eyes scanned down the page to the bottom conclusions.

Paternity Analysis: Ryan Miller.

Biological Father: Marcus Vance.

My hand froze in mid-air.

"Marcus Vance?" I breathed out, shock rippling through my mind. "Dylan's older brother?"

"Marcus Vance died four years ago in that private plane crash in Aspen," Julian revealed, sliding a secondary report across my lap. "Sierra didn't leave California because she missed Dylan, Elena. She came back because Marcus left a secret $20 million trust fund for his illegitimate son, Ryan, which could only be unlocked if a legal guardian appointed by the Vance family estate managed the child!"

The disgusting, intricate web of deceit finally revealed its master design.

Sierra had never loved Dylan. She had used him. She knew Dylan was desperate to play the noble hero, so she seduced him, letting him believe Ryan was his emotional son, so Dylan would use Vance Capital’s legal infrastructure to unlock Marcus's $20 million trust for her!

And Dylan—so blinded by his pathetic desire to possess Sierra—had stolen from his own daughter, ruined his marriage, and risked his child's life for a woman who was playing him like a puppet!

"Does Dylan know Ryan is actually his brother's illegitimate son?" I asked Julian, my voice trembling with cold laughter.

"No," Julian smiled wickedly. "Dylan genuinely believes Ryan is his second chance at true love. Sierra kept the paternity test hidden from him so he would keep paying her bills."

I held the DNA document in my hand, looking out the tinted window at the neon lights of the city skyline.

"Dylan sacrificed his real daughter for a lie," I whispered, sliding the document back into my leather folder. "Tonight, I am going to destroy every single delusion he has ever held."
