I didn’t reach for the tablet.
I reached into my pocket.
And pulled out my phone.
“You forgot one thing, Julian.”
He frowned.
“What?”
“You’re dealing with Daniel’s daughter.”
I pressed a button.
The rooftop doors burst open.
Not security guards.
Federal agents.
A dozen of them.
Weapons drawn.
Helicopter spotlights suddenly illuminated the roof.
Blinding Julian.
“Drop the weapon! Step away from the child!”
Julian froze.
The cool predator was suddenly trapped in the light.
He looked at the tablet.
He looked at me.
“How?”
“The invitation,” Caleb said.
“We tracked the barcode back to your shell company.”
A pause.
“We knew it was a trap.”
“So we brought a bigger one.”
The agents moved in.
Julian dropped his hands.
