Part 12: The Ghost

Part 12: The Ghost

I showed the photo to Caleb.

His face darkened.

He didn’t speak right away.

He just stared at the silver ink.

“Who dropped this off?”

“No one saw,” I said.

“Security cameras?”

“Erased.”

A chill ran down my spine.

Victor was in prison.

Maximum security.

No phone calls.

No visitors.

He couldn’t have sent this.

But someone did.

Someone with access.

Someone with money.

My mother walked into the office.

She saw the photo.

Her face turned pale.

“Sofia?” Caleb asked.

She touched the silver ink.

“It’s not Victor.”

She looked at us.

“Victor used black ink for business.”

A pause.

“Silver was Julian’s color.”

I froze.

Julian.

Victor’s younger brother.

The one who supposedly died in a boating accident twenty years ago.
