Chapter 14 - Unraveling the Lies

With Declan's corrupt attorney in federal custody, my legal team gained full access to Declan's private financial records. What we uncovered inside his personal computer was far worse than simple corporate embezzlement.
"Look at these transfers, Miss Maya," Natalie said, pointing to a complex flow chart on the conference room screen. "For the past three years, Declan wasn't just spending money on luxury cars and his mistress."
"Where was the money going?" I asked, examining the red lines connecting offshore shell companies.
"He was funneling capital into a rival construction network—Aegis Apex," Natalie revealed. "He was planning to bleed Vance Logistics dry, file for artificial bankruptcy, and transfer all our structural patents to Aegis Apex under Chloe's name."
My blood ran cold. "He was planning to leave me completely destitute."
"Not just destitute," my mother added, walking into the room with a cold gaze. "He framed your digital signature on the debt guarantees. If his plan had succeeded, you would have inherited a hundred million dollars in fraudulent debt while he walked away rich with his mistress."
I stared at the screen, a chilling realization washing over me.
The violence on the night I ran wasn't just a random outburst of temper. It was a calculated attempt to break my spirit, force me to sign the final transfer papers, and crush me forever.
"He didn't just want to hurt me," I whispered, my fist tightening against the table. "He wanted to erase me."

"Then let us return the favor," Natalie said, pulling up a fresh affidavit. "We have enough evidence now to execute a total asset forfeiture. Every penny he ever hid will be returned to the Vance Foundation."
"No," I corrected, looking up at my legal team. "Don't just return it to the trust. Donate every single cent of his seized personal fortune to emergency domestic violence shelters across the state."
