Chapter 13 - The Retribution

|

The next morning at 9:30 AM, Arthur Sterling stood outside the federal courthouse, wearing a expensive suit, surrounded by dozens of reporters and news cameras.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the press!" Arthur shouted into the microphones. "My client, Declan Vance, is a victim of a corporate coup orchestrated by his estranged wife! We have undeniable proof of financial irregularities committed by the Vance Trust!"

He held up a thick black folder, smiling triumphantly for the flashing cameras.

Before he could open the folder, two unmarked black vans pulled up to the curb. Eight federal agents poured out, surrounding the attorney and his team.

Master Inspector Miller stepped forward, pulling a high-court warrant from his trench coat.

"Arthur Sterling?" Miller announced loudly, his voice carrying over the crowd. "You are under arrest for conspiracy to utter forged federal documents, obstruction of justice, and extortion."

Arthur’s smug smile instantly evaporated. "What?! This is legal privilege! You can't touch these documents!"

"Those documents were retrieved from an illegal offshore server seized in Zurich an hour ago," Miller replied coldly, snapping handcuffs onto the attorney's wrists. "Your client, Declan Vance, just earned himself an additional fifteen years for witness tampering."

I stepped out of a sleek black town car parked across the street, accompanied by my mother.

The reporters immediately abandoned Arthur Sterling, rushing toward me with wild questions and flashing cameras.

"Director Vance! Is it true Declan tried to blackmail you?"

"Maya! Will Vance Global survive the scandal?"

I stopped in front of the press line, pulling my sunglasses down slightly.

"Declan Vance tried to build an empire on lies, intimidation, and violence," I stated clearly to the cameras. "Today, his foundation collapsed. Vance Global is under new leadership—and we do not negotiate with criminals."
