"Get him out of here," Natalie Brooks ordered calmly.
The federal marshals dragged Declan away, his screaming threats fading as the heavy oak front doors slammed shut behind him.
Natalie turned to me, handing me a sleek black tablet.
"Miss Maya, while the federal authorities process Mr. Vance's personal charges, the board of directors requires your immediate attention," Natalie said. "Declan's sudden collapse triggered an emergency session on Wall Street."
I tapped the screen. Live news footage from CNBC filled the display.
A prominent financial anchor was speaking frantically: "In an unprecedented turn of events, Vance Logistics has collapsed entirely following revelations of massive corporate fraud and physical domestic assault charges against CEO Declan Vance. Reports indicate the primary controlling trust has revoked his charter, naming his wife, Maya Vance, as the sole governing authority."
"The media knows?" I asked, looking up.
"The Apex Council controls the narrative," Natalie replied sharply. "Declan spent years pretending he was the solitary genius behind Vance Logistics. We just released the construction logs, structural patents, and project management archives proving that you executed eighty percent of the firm's successful ventures."
My phone—a new encrypted device provided by Natalie—began vibrating constantly.
Dozens of text messages flooded the screen from former board members, elite investors, and politicians who had ignored me for years.
“Maya, we always knew you were the true heart of the company!”
“Director Vance, please allow us to extend our emergency credit lines to you directly.”
“Maya, let’s schedule a dinner to discuss restructuring.”
I smiled coldly, clearing the notifications with a single swipe.

"They ignored me when I had mud on my boots," I said to Natalie. "Now they want to crawl back because I hold the seal."
"That is the nature of the wolf pack, Miss Maya," Natalie answered. "Shall we show them who leads the pack now?"
