Chapter 31 - The Inheritance

Five more years passed with beautiful, uninterrupted peace.
Valentina graduated from a top university with a degree in social work and business management.
She returned to the city not as a student, but as a fully realized leader.
Diego called a special board meeting at the top floor of the Villaseñor corporate headquarters.
Dozens of elite executives, lawyers, and investors sat around the massive glass table.
Diego stood at the head of the table, looking at the empire he had successfully legitimized and cleansed of its dark past.
"For twenty-five years, I have led this company," Diego announced to the silent room. "We have faced internal betrayal, external threats, and massive economic shifts. But we have always survived."
The board members nodded respectfully.
"However, I believe that true leadership requires knowing when it is time to step down," Diego continued.
A murmur of surprise rippled through the room.
"Effective immediately, I am retiring as the CEO of Villaseñor Enterprises," Diego stated firmly.
"Sir, who will take your place?" the lead attorney asked nervously.
Diego smiled proudly.
The heavy oak doors of the boardroom opened.
Valentina walked in, wearing an impeccable, sharp tailored suit.
She possessed a commanding presence that instantly silenced the room.
"I would like to introduce the new CEO," Diego said, gesturing to his daughter. "Valentina Villaseñor."
Some of the older executives exchanged doubtful glances.
She was only twenty-three years old.
"Gentlemen," Valentina said, taking her place at the head of the table. "I know some of you believe I am too young to lead an empire of this magnitude. But let me assure you, I was raised by a man who taught me how to fight wars, and a mother who taught me how to survive them."
She opened a folder and tossed it onto the glass table.
"These are our projected profits for the next quarter, integrating our corporate profits with the expansion of our non-profit foundation," Valentina said with absolute authority. "We are not just going to make money. We are going to build a legacy that actually means something. If anyone has a problem with my leadership, the door is right behind you."
Nobody moved.
Nobody spoke.
They simply stared in awe at the undeniable power of the young woman before them.

Diego stood in the back of the room, crossing his arms and smiling.
