Chapter 26 - The Dealer's Confession

Marcus’s tactical team moved with brutal efficiency.

Within three hours, they had located the black-market dealer who sold the military tranquilizers.

They cornered him in a dirty alley behind a nightclub.

The dealer tried to run, but Marcus tackled him to the pavement, pressing the barrel of a heavy pistol against his temple.

"Who bought the darts?" Marcus demanded.

"I don't know names! I just sell the product!" the dealer screamed in terror.

Marcus pulled back the hammer of the gun.

"A young guy! Sharp suit, arrogant attitude!" the dealer cried frantically. "He paid in solid gold bars! He mentioned needing them to clear a house in the northern hills!"

"Where did you deliver the rest of the supplies?" Marcus yelled.

"An old textile factory! In the industrial sector near the river! Sector 4!"

Marcus immediately radioed Diego.

"We have a location, sir. Sector 4 industrial district."

Diego grabbed his tactical vest and a heavy assault rifle.

He looked at Valentina, who was standing near the door.

"Stay here with the reserve guards," Diego instructed. "Do not leave this room."

"Bring her home, Dad," Valentina pleaded.

"I will," Diego swore.

The convoy of black armored SUVs sped through the city streets under the cover of darkness.

They approached the abandoned textile factory with their headlights off, using night-vision goggles.

The factory was massive, surrounded by high wire fences and rusted out cars.

"Thermal imaging shows three heat signatures inside," Marcus whispered, looking at a portable scanner. "Two on the ground floor. One tied to a chair in the center room."

"That's Marisol," Diego said, his heart pounding. "Who is the other signature?"

"Likely Paulina," Marcus said. "But where is Julian?"

"We don't wait," Diego commanded. "Breach the front and back doors simultaneously on my mark."

Diego stacked up against the rusted metal front door with three heavily armed mercenaries.

He took a deep breath.

He was a businessman, but tonight, he was a soldier fighting for his world.

"Mark!" Diego shouted.

They kicked the doors open, swarming into the dark, dusty factory with their laser sights sweeping the room.

"Nobody move!" Diego roared, aiming his rifle.

In the center of the room, Marisol was tied to the chair.

Paulina stood behind her, but she wasn't holding a gun.

She was holding a detonator switch.

"Welcome to the party, Diego," Paulina smiled wickedly. "Take one more step, and I blow this entire factory into the sky."
