Six months later, the shadows of the Montenegro family had entirely faded from the Reyes estate. Valeria was serving a twenty-year sentence in a federal penitentiary without the possibility of early parole. Her father's shipping empire had been liquidated by the government to pay off their massive criminal debts.
The grand mansion, once a site of terror and betrayal, felt entirely different now. It was filled with warmth, sunlight, and the sound of genuine laughter.
It was a bright Sunday afternoon. In the sprawling gardens, Sofía was running across the green lawn, chasing a colorful kite that caught the coastal breeze.
Isabella sat on the stone patio, sipping her tea. She watched her granddaughter with a soft, genuine smile. Beside her sat Lucía, not in a maid's uniform, but in a beautiful, simple summer dress.
"She has so much energy today," Isabella noted warmly, looking at Lucía not as an employee, but as an equal. The matriarch had kept her promise, fundamentally changing her worldview. She had realized that true nobility wasn't inherited in a bank account; it was proven in moments of absolute fire.
"She slept well last night," Lucía smiled, her eyes tracking the little girl.
Alejandro walked out onto the patio, carrying a tray of fresh lemonade. He set it down and walked over to Lucía, gently resting his hand on her shoulder. The connection between them, forged in the terror of protecting Sofía, had slowly, organically blossomed into a quiet, profound love.
"Are you two plotting against me again?" Alejandro teased, looking between his mother and the woman he loved.
