Chapter 12 - The Iron Alibi

Alejandro arrived at the police precinct like a hurricane. He stormed past the desk sergeant, flanked by his aggressive legal team, demanding to see Lucía immediately. He found her in a bleak, gray interrogation room, looking terrified but holding back tears.

"I didn't do it, Mr. Alejandro," she whispered as soon as he walked in. "I swear to you."

"I know you didn't," Alejandro said fiercely, sitting across from her and taking her trembling hands in his. "I know exactly who planted that evidence. Valeria is trying to remove you so she has a clear path to Sofía."

"They found the pills under my mattress," Lucía said, panic rising in her voice. "They said it's undeniable proof. How do I fight that?"

Alejandro smiled, a cold, calculating expression that belonged to a ruthless CEO. "Valeria is arrogant. She thinks she's smarter than everyone else because her family buys judges. But she forgot one critical detail about my house."

He pulled his laptop out of his briefcase and opened it, turning it toward the two detectives who had just walked into the room to formally charge Lucía.

"Detectives, my former fiancée thinks she planted evidence today," Alejandro began smoothly. "But after the initial poisoning attempt, I didn't just hire guards. I installed micro-cameras in every single hallway, including the staff quarters. A system entirely isolated from the cloud, recording locally to this hard drive."

He pressed play. The high-definition footage showed the hallway outside Lucía's bedroom. At 1:15 PM, while Lucía was in the playroom with Sofía, a figure crept down the hall. It wasn't Valeria. It was Maria, the head housekeeper. She looked around nervously, slipped into Lucía's room, and emerged two minutes later, empty-handed.

The detectives stared at the screen, their expressions shifting from hostile to deeply troubled.

"The anonymous tip came exactly ten minutes after Maria left that room," Alejandro noted. "My nanny is innocent. And I want Maria arrested for evidence tampering and conspiracy immediately."

Lucía let out a breath that was halfway to a sob. The trap had failed.
