Victoria backed away until her spine hit the heavy oak door of the study.
"Marcus, please!" she shrieked, her pristine mask completely falling apart. "It’s a fake! That video was altered! Elena must have set up the camera to frame me!"
"The card was inside the hedge, sealed in waterproof plastic!" Marcus roared, rising from his chair so fast his desk lamp rattled. "I saw it with my own eyes!"
"She forced me to do it!" Victoria stammered, her fake tears turning into hysterical gasps. "She threatened me! She said she’d destroy my reputation if I didn't help her get rid of the child!"
Elena finally spoke, her voice raspy from swallowing pool water. "I never spoke a word to you tonight, Victoria. You wanted the baby dead so Marcus would marry you without any baggage from his past."
Victoria’s eyes flashed with pure venom. The soft, elegant socialite vanished, replaced by a monster.
"You stupid, worthless maid!" Victoria screamed at Elena, her fingers clawing at the air. "He's a bastard child anyway! He was supposed to drown! You ruined everything!"
Marcus pressed a red button on his desk intercom. "Security! Get in here now!"
Within five seconds, three armed security guards burst through the study doors.
"Take her," Marcus ordered, pointing a trembling finger at Victoria. "Lock her in the gatehouse until the police arrive. Hand over this laptop and the SD card to the lead detective."
"Don't touch me!" Victoria shrieked as the guards grabbed her arms. She struggled wildly, her emerald dress ripping at the shoulder as they dragged her into the hallway. "Marcus! You'll regret this! My family will ruin you! You hear me? You'll pay for this!"
