Chapter 17 - The Swiss Gambit

|

Seven days later, the Mercer Dynamics private jet touched down at Zurich Airport under a grey, mist-filled sky.

We checked into the historic Dolder Grand hotel overlooking Lake Zurich.

I sat in the executive suite with David, Elena, and our newly hired international security team. Maps of Geneva, corporate flowcharts, and financial dossiers covered the long oak table.

"Victor von Brandt is holding his annual Global Energy Summit at his private estate on Lake Geneva tomorrow night," Elena reported, sliding a thick file across the table. "It's an ultra-exclusive gathering of international energy magnates, politicians, and defense contractors."

"How hard is security?" I asked.

"Impenetrable," David said grimly. "Biometric guest list, armed private security, and non-disclosure agreements signed at the gate. You can't just buy a ticket to this one, Ethan."

I smiled faintly, looking out the window at the Swiss Alps rising into the fog.

"I don't need to buy a ticket, David," I said. "Three days ago, Mercer Dynamics finalized the patent registration for our next-generation clean grid matrix. Von Brandt wants that technology more than anything in the world."

"You're going to bait him?" Elena asked, her eyes lighting up with understanding.

"I'm going to walk right into his front door," I said, fixing my jacket. "And offer him the one thing he can't resist: a private meeting with the man who ruined his plans in Chicago."
