Chapter 16 - The Geneva Files

|

I stared down at the glowing phone screen, the cold breeze from Lake Michigan suddenly feeling like ice against my face.

Titan Holdings does not forget. See you in Geneva.

"Ethan?" David asked, noticing the sudden shift in my posture. "What is it?"

I handed him the phone. David read the text message, his brow furrowing as he adjusted his glasses.

"A threat?" David muttered, his eyes narrowing. "Titan Holdings’ parent company is a multi-billion-dollar global conglomerate based in Switzerland. Their chairman, Baron Victor von Brandt, is infamous for hostile takeovers across Europe."

"Nolan didn't act alone," I realized, the pieces of the puzzle clicking together with terrifying precision. "Nolan was just the greedy insider they bought off. Von Brandt wanted Mercer Dynamics’ quantum energy storage patent for his defense network."

Maya and Elena walked out onto the terrace, holding glasses of sparkling water.

"What's going on?" Maya asked, sensing the tension instantly.

"Titan Holdings isn't finished with us," I said, looking at Elena. "Elena, I need you to do a deep-dive forensic audit into Titan’s European subsidiaries. Find out every shell company registered under Victor von Brandt."

Elena didn't hesitate. She pulled out her tablet instantly. "I'll start tracing their international banking filings immediately."

"David," I turned to my attorney. "Clear my schedule for next week. We're flying to Switzerland."

"Ethan," Maya warned, grabbing my hand. "You just got your life back. You cleared your name. Why are you chasing global sharks in Europe?"

I looked at my sister, my mind focused like a steel beam.

"Because, Maya," I said softly, "if you let a predator stay in the shadows, they just wait until you're sleeping to strike again. I'm taking the fight to them."
