Chapter 15 - SIEGE AT ALURA|

Gunfire shattered the quiet night as mercenaries poured through the upper halls of the mansion.
Elena ducked low, crouching behind mahogany tables and marble pillars as Adrien fired systematically into the darkness, dropping two intruders who tried to rush the kitchen corridor.
The smell of gunpowder and ozone filled the air.
They reached the heavy iron door of the wine cellar. Elena pulled the latch, leading Adrien down the narrow stone steps into the cold, damp dark beneath the house.
Behind them, heavy boots thundered down the kitchen floor.
"In here!" Elena whispered, pulling a heavy rack of aged wine bottles aside to reveal a narrow wooden access hatch set into the foundation wall.
Adrien reloaded his weapon with calm, terrifying speed.
"Go through first," he ordered.
"Not without you!" she argued, pulling on his jacket.
"Elena, go!"
Before she could climb into the hatch, the iron cellar door burst open. Dominic Vance stepped onto the landing, holding an assault rifle, flanked by three heavily armed men.
"End of the line, Boss!" Vance laughed, raising his weapon.
Elena didn't panic. She didn't freeze.
She grabbed a heavy forty-pound box of brass sommelier tools off a nearby shelf and hurled it with all her strength into the wine rack beside the stairs.
CRASH!
Hundreds of glass bottles collapsed in a massive avalanche of oak and heavy glass, crushing two mercenaries under hundreds of pounds of debris and splattering slick alcohol across the stone steps.

"Now!" Elena screamed.
Adrien fired four quick rounds into the ceiling lights, plunging the cellar into absolute darkness, and dived into the narrow hatch right behind her.
