CHAPTER 5 — A DIFFERENT CELEBRATION
The guests quietly left the chapel.
No one argued.
No one whispered.
Several hugged Chloe before leaving.
The florist asked if she could donate every flower.
The bakery offered the wedding cake free of charge.
Instead of sending it back...
We carried it to the children's hospital.
The nurses laughed when they saw a little girl wearing a flower crown.
"Birthday?" one asked.
Chloe smiled.
"No."
"My daddy picked me."
That afternoon we served cake to children whose families couldn't leave their hospital rooms.
For the first time all day...
Chloe laughed.
