Chapter 25 - The Eternal GardenMany Years Later.

I sit in the garden of our home on the outskirts of the city. The sun is setting, painting the sky in familiar shades of violent orange and deep purple. My hair is entirely white now, and my hands shake a little when I hold my coffee cup, but my mind is at peace.

The backdoor swings open.

"Grandpa!"

A little boy, no older than five, comes running across the grass, his laughter ringing out like music. He crashes into my legs, and I scoop him up, settling him onto my lap.

Sofia walks out behind him. She is older now, a seasoned, formidable attorney whose name strikes fear into the hearts of corrupt men across the country. But to me, she is still my little girl.

She sits in the chair next to me, sighing contentedly as she watches her son play with a wooden toy car on the patio table.

"We won the appeal today, Papa," she says softly. "The environmental protections are going to be upheld."

"I never doubted you for a second," I reply, smiling.

A gentle breeze rustles the leaves of the marigolds I planted around the porch. I close my eyes, feeling the warmth of the setting sun on my face.

I think of Elena. I think of the long, dark tunnel of grief we had to crawl through to get here.

We had lost so much. But we had not been destroyed. We took the broken pieces of our lives and built a fortress of love, justice, and light.

I open my eyes and look at my daughter, and then at my grandson.

The nightmare was over. The horizon was ours. And our beautiful, unbreakable life would go on forever.
