Chapter 19 - The New Queen

The destruction of the contract marked the true beginning of their reign.
Six months later, Liya stood in front of a floor-to-ceiling mirror in the penthouse, adjusting a sleek, custom-tailored black suit. She wasn't just the boss's wife anymore. She had taken over the legitimate, philanthropic side of the Moretti empire, managing millions in charity funds and hospital donations.
She had taken the pain of her mother's illness and weaponized it for good, ensuring no family in the city would ever face medical bankruptcy again.
Adrian walked into the bedroom, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind and kissing her neck.
"You look terrifyingly beautiful, Mrs. Moretti," he murmured, his reflection smiling beside hers.
"I have a meeting with the hospital board today," Liya said, leaning back into his solid chest. "And you have a meeting with the new syndicate heads."
"They are eager to please the king," Adrian said dismissively. "Especially since they know the queen is entirely off-limits."
Life was perfect. Almost too perfect.
Later that evening, Adrian and Liya hosted a private dinner at the penthouse to celebrate Eleanor’s complete recovery. The atmosphere was light, filled with laughter and expensive wine.
"To Adrian," Eleanor smiled, raising her glass. "For saving my life, and for giving my daughter the world."
"To family," Adrian replied, clinking his glass against Liya’s.
As they began to eat, Marcus, the head of security, stepped quietly into the dining room. He didn't say a word, but he caught Adrian's eye. The look on his scarred face made the blood freeze in Adrian's veins.
Adrian stood up, excusing himself calmly, and followed Marcus into the soundproof study.

"What is it, Marcus?" Adrian demanded the moment the door closed.
"Boss," Marcus said, holding up a small, black velvet box that had been delivered to the front desk. "It's from Europe. The Global Commission."
