Chapter 19 - Truth Unveiled

Two hours later, the private maternity suite at Northwestern Memorial Hospital was filled with soft, warm light.
Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, snow fell gently over the Chicago skyline.
Inside the room, Dela lay in the hospital bed, exhausted but glowing with pure joy. Wrapped tightly in a soft white blanket in her arms was a healthy, beautiful baby girl with dark blue eyes and a dusting of dark hair.
Sitting on the edge of the bed beside her was Augustine Vandermir. He looked down at the tiny infant with a gentleness that surprised even himself, his rough fingers touching her soft cheek.
"She’s perfect, Dela," Gus whispered softly.
"Her name is Grace," Dela said, tears of happiness shining in her eyes. "Grace Elias Hawthorne."
Nell and Teddy stood near the doorway, smiling brightly through their own happy tears as they watched the new family.
A quiet knock sounded at the door. Marco, Gus’s security chief, stepped inside, carrying a small, ribbon-wrapped box.
"Boss, Mrs. Hawthorne," Marco said quietly. "This was just delivered to the front desk by a federal courier. It was released from Victor Sinclair's seized personal estate."
Dela opened the small box. Inside was an old, leather-bound pocket watch—Elias’s watch, which had been taken from the crash site two years ago. Attached to the watch was an official pardon from the state's attorney's office, fully clearing Elias Hawthorne's professional reputation and naming him a heroic whistleblower.
Dela held the watch against her heart, closing her eyes as a deep sense of complete closure settled over her soul.

Gus leaned down, gently kissing Dela’s forehead, then kissing tiny Grace’s soft head.
"You’re safe now, Dela," Gus promised, holding her hand tightly. "Both of you. Forever."
