Chapter 11 - The Trap Exposed

|
The room erupted into absolute chaos.
Billionaires and investors jumped from their seats, shouting in outrage as they realized the financial trap Victor Sinclair had almost pulled them into.
"Is this true, Victor?!" one prominent investor demanded, slamming his glass down. "Are you dragging our investment funds into a federal fraud investigation?!"
"It's a lie!" Victor roared, his face turning a deep, dangerous shade of purple. "She's a disgruntled former employee's widow! She has no authority! She has no proof!"
"I have the proof right here," Dela replied calmly.
She pulled a thick white folder from her inner jacket pocket and laid it flat on the cherrywood table beside Margot’s six thousand dollars in cash.
"These are certified copies of the real Dock 44 shipping ledgers, retrieved from Arthur Vance's private holding vault on level B2," Dela explained to the room. "They detail twelve million dollars in offshore transfers to Apex Logistics—a shell company registered directly under Victor Sinclair's name."
Arthur Vance fell back into his chair, covering his face with his hands. "It's over, Victor," he muttered helplessly. "She has the primary ledgers."
Victor trembled with rage, glaring at Dela as if he wanted to tear her apart with his bare hands. "You miserable little parasite! Your husband tried the same trick, and look where it got him! Dead at the bottom of a ravine on Interstate 90!"
The room went dead silent.
Dela didn't flinch. She stepped right up to Victor, her eyes burning with cold, unyielding fire.
"Thank you, Mr. Sinclair," Dela said softly. "You just confessed to murder in front of thirty-two sworn witnesses."
Victor froze, realizing too late what he had just blurted out in his blind rage.

From the back of the ballroom, the double doors flew open. Four uniformed officers from the Chicago Police Department, accompanied by two federal agents from the Department of Justice, marched briskly into the room.
"Victor Sinclair," the lead federal agent announced, pulling out a set of steel handcuffs. "You are under arrest for corporate fraud, grand larceny, and conspiracy to commit murder."
