Chapter 2 - The Champagne Satin

Doña Valeria was a woman who commanded attention not through earned respect, but through a chilling, manufactured aura of absolute authority and sheer intimidation. She was the sister-in-law of the mansion's powerful patriarch, Don Alejandro, and she moved through the vast, echoing corridors like a ruthless queen surveying her conquered territory.
That particular morning, Valeria was dressed in an exquisite, custom-tailored champagne-colored satin suit that shimmered elegantly under the crystal chandeliers. Her dark hair was pulled back into a flawless, severe chignon, and her lips were painted a deep, intimidating shade of crimson. Heavy diamonds glittered brightly from her earlobes and wrapped around her slender wrists, flashing like tiny, expensive daggers of light in the morning sun. She possessed a cold, calculating smile that rarely ever reached her dark eyes, a cruel smile she usually employed right before tearing someone down.
The morning had begun like any other ordinary day. Lucía had been instructed to serve fresh, steaming coffee in the main parlor and subsequently clean the luxurious upstairs rooms. Her routine took her directly into Valeria’s lavishly decorated bedroom, a massive space overflowing with imported silks and suffocatingly expensive perfumes. Lucía had carefully dusted the vanity, deliberately avoiding the plush velvet jewelry boxes, and quietly slipped out to continue her endless list of daily chores.
Less than an hour later, the peaceful tranquility of the mansion was violently and permanently shattered. A piercing, dramatic scream echoed down from the upper floor, followed quickly by the frantic scurrying of the senior household staff. Valeria descended the grand, sweeping staircase, her face a carefully constructed mask of manufactured fury. The famous Alcázar family necklace—a priceless, antique diamond piece that had been passed down through generations—was missing from her vanity.
Without a single shred of hesitation, or a moment of thorough investigation, Valeria’s accusing finger pointed directly at the newest, most vulnerable member of the household staff.

"The new maid," Valeria hissed, her voice cutting sharply through the hushed whispers of the gathering crowd. "She was the last one in my room. She took it."
Lucía, who had been quietly polishing silver in the dining room, was abruptly dragged into the grand hall, completely unaware of the horrifying nightmare that was about to unfold.
