Chapter 17 - The Plot to Destroy Elise

"You are going to take your things, pack a bag, and leave this city today," I told Ivy, my voice absolute and reassuring. "My lawyer, Naomi, will arrange a safe apartment for you in California under a legal alias. You will speak to no one, answer no calls from Grant's family, and let us handle Oliver Crane."

Ivy nodded frantically, crying tears of sheer relief. "Thank you... thank you so much, Ms. Rowan."

"Don't thank me," I said, standing up. "You just saved my life."

Thirty minutes later, I was back in the high-security server room at Northstar Metrics.

My lead cybersecurity team worked in absolute, frantic silence. Within two hours of dissecting Grant's encrypted phone, my engineers located the hidden malicious script Grant had secretly uploaded to our staging server.

It was a masterwork of corporate evil. If that patch had gone live on Friday, it would have breached thirty major banking networks, traced the failure directly back to my private digital signature, and triggered an immediate federal raid on Northstar Metrics.

Grant had been ready to ruin hundreds of lives, compromise national security, and throw his wife into a federal penitentiary—all to clear his gambling debts and live like a king in South America.

"We found it, Boss," my chief technology officer announced, wiping sweat from his forehead as he executed a purging command. "The backdoor is completely eliminated. The system is clean. Northstar is safe."

I stood behind him, watching the lines of green code sweep across the screens, destroying every trace of Grant's digital trap.

"Is there any way to trace where he was sending the data?" I asked.

"Yes," the CTO replied, tapping a key. "The IP address points directly to an offshore server leased by Oliver Crane."

I pulled out my phone and dialed Special Agent Vance at the FBI.

"Agent Vance," I said, my tone as sharp as a diamond. "I have the final piece of your puzzle. And I have the location of the man who helped Grant Holloway steal $8.4 million."

Within four hours, federal tactical teams raided a luxury penthouse downtown, arresting Oliver Crane as he attempted to board a private jet to the Bahamas. The conspiracy was shattered. The nightmare was officially over.
